We founded Freedom Coffee to free ourselves from the pressures of the corporate lifestyle and create a better life and future for our families. We believe in the importance of supporting the local community, connecting with people, and supporting positive mental health.
We use organic, non-refined, pure, ethically sourced ingredients from local businesses and stock a selection of vegan and gluten-free options. As part of the local beach community in Ventura, we are Surfrider-certified Ocean Friendly, and use all recycled and compostable cups and straws.

Holly Kirkwood
Founder of Freedom Coffee, Holly managed multiple coffee houses in Australia before returning to her home of Scotland to continue her career in sports broadcasting. Most recently, Holly left a successful career as a kitchen designer to start a family. She now brings her love of coffee, design, and family along with a vast knowledge of media and marketing into the business.
Andy Kirkwood
Originally from Scotland, Andy fell in love with California when attending high school in Ventura. Following a 10-year career managing European operations and business support for global fashion retail brand Ted Baker, Andy launched and managed the largest and most efficient delivery station in the UK for Amazon Logistics as Senior Operations Manager. Proud father to Amelia & Finlay and husband to Holly, Andy brings a wealth of knowledge in retail, operations, logistics, and IT to the business.
Derek Meyer
Derek has been a close family friend to Holly and Andy for the last 20 years. Born in raised in Ventura, he has been a 15-year resident of Pacific Beach where he resides with his wife, Chrissy, and new-born son, Duke. A licensed real estate agent and investor, he has spent nearly a decade working with one of the nation's premier financial and business education companies helping entrepreneurs and investors all over the US start and grow their businesses. Derek holds dual Master’s Degrees in Marketing and Integrated Marketing Communications with experience developing comprehensive marketing strategies and maintaining small business digital media presence and communications.
